Praise from Colleagues

Stanley is a wonderfully delightful musician and human being!!!!!!! I have had the pleasure of performing both classical and jazz with him at IUP, where he is the backbone of the string department. He has an awful lot of musical and personal integrity. Besides that, he can play some mean solos!!!!!!!! I love the fact that he takes the time to shape a phrase, create a color, and allows his instincts to take over at the right times, whether it be an improvised or written line. His music seems to mimic his personality too, in that he is most instinctive, concious and patient while interacting. He absolutely enjoys music, and working with him is most fun and a genuine, natural experience.

Chepaitis and Spindler perform with the aplomb and profound musicianship of renowned violin and piano duos of my youth. Their performance of my first sonata was a brilliant occasion reminding me of the Szigeti-Levine premier. They are performers of the first order.

David Diamond
composer

The heartfelt, passionate reading of the Prokofiev Sonata is matched by the intensely personal expression in Stanley Chepaitis's original compositions. I found that the excellence in one genre gave credibility to the other methods of expression. I believe that as we prepare our students for musical life in the 21st Century this type of flexibility and diversity of approach is increasingly important.

Stan Chepaitis remains one of my favorite violinists. At home in a wide range of styles, Stan can break your heart with a lyrical passage or knock you socks off with some sizzling jazz. A violinist, conductor, composer and pedagogue, Stan can also elicit similar responses from YOUR STUDENTS through his innovative clinics where he applies his own jazz and improvising pedagogy. RUN, don't walk to engage Stan Chepaitis as a clinician for your students and teachers.

Stanley Chepaitis has an amazing mix of technical genius, love for the art of creating music, and compassion for his students and colleagues!

His teaching is solution driven, the results are fantastic!!

He is driven to revive the old tradition of artist and composer (a tradition threatened with extinction). His compositions and improvisations are breaking new ground. They are exciting, refreshing, and delightful!! His compositions are making a significant contribution to the new string literature available with numerous solo, chamber, and orchestral compositions.

He composes in a style that combines traditional art with contemporary experiments, a "cross over" approach that Maurice Ravel, George Gershwin, and Leonard Bernstein did in their own time."

"Stanley Chepaitis is breaking new ground by expanding the exploration of the varied aspects of music and how, in the final analysis, there are common threads even at the farthest ends of the musical spectrum."

Charles Treger
Professor of Violin

I have followed the career of Stan Chepaitis for years and enjoy the dynamic, exciting and electric quality of his playing! He is also a committed educator, long championing the use of jazz for string players.
