Debuting in November, 2003, Blues on First features Stanley with members of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra (PSO). The group performs jazz classics and cutting edge new works in jazz style throughout the greater Pittsburg area. Appearing on the PSO's "Parties of Note" house concert series, the quartet has also performed in Fox Chapel and for the Race for the Cure cancer support events.
Along with cellist Lou Lowenstein and guitarist Eric Susoeff (of Latin band "Salsamba" fame), Stanley creates an ensemble similar to the famous String Trio of New York. The group's focus is new music with pop and world music influences, and the musicians perform either acoustic or amplified. This cross-over ensemble is very interested in commissioning new works and plans on performing at festivals and special gallery events in the near future.
Two violins, guitar, and bass form the core of this improvisational group which meets weekly on the IUP campus. The group includes students and adult amatuers and provides a laboratory for stylistic and repertoire development. Stanley leads the sessions and continues to explore his own compositional horizons.
